Il Fatto Quotidiano

In collaboration with Simple Agency, I oversaw the art direction of a Reel focused on the recent military escalation in the West Bank. The project was based on the request to translate journalist Maddalena Oliva’s field investigation - carried out in Jenin together with Il Fatto Quotidiano and Médecins Sans Frontières—into an effective, social-native visual narrative.

My role was to define the visual tone, atmosphere, and narrative coherence of the entire piece: a documentary-driven, gritty aesthetic built on technical textures, archival fragments, minimal animations, and a muted palette capable of conveying the gravity of the subject without sensationalizing it.

Creative Direction

I created a full, scene-by-scene storyboard, designing the visual structure based on the editorial script developed by Simple’s content strategist, who shaped the narrative from Oliva’s article. From this storyboard, a motion designer executed the final animation.

STORYBOARD

For the cover, I created a social-first visual designed to capture attention instantly and set the tone of the story. The aesthetic balances emotional weight with clear narrative framing, while hand-drawn arrows guide the viewer’s eye to the key subject and boost immediate engagement.
