Bausano is an Italian company specialising in the design and production of extrusion lines, with a history spanning more than 75 years.

In collaboration with Plastico, I worked on a corporate film created to tell this story through Bausano’s photographic archive. Using AI, we brought historical photographs to life, transforming static images into cinematic sequences and connecting past and present through a continuous visual narrative.

Bausano’s history lives through an extensive photographic archive: factories, machines, people and moments documenting more than 75 years of industrial evolution.

The idea was to move beyond the archive as a collection of static images and turn it into something alive. Rather than simply restoring or presenting the photographs, AI became a tool to imagine what could exist just outside their frame.
Camera movements extend the original photographs, people begin to move, and different moments in time become connected through continuous transitions.
The result is a visual journey where past and present coexist, preserving the identity of the original material while giving it a new cinematic dimension.

Before animation, selected archival photographs were reconstructed and expanded to create coherent, animation-ready scenes while preserving the original environments, people and historical atmosphere.

Some moments were reconstructed from real stories and memories shared by the family. Scenes that were never photographed, but were part of the company’s history, were recreated using the available archival material as a visual reference.

Selected black-and-white photographs were restored, upscaled and colorized, improving their overall quality while preserving the character and visual authenticity of the original images.

Some archival photographs required more extensive intervention before animation. Image quality was improved and subjects were repositioned or adjusted when necessary, creating compositions specifically designed around the intended action and camera movement of each scene.

The film was conceived as a continuous journey through Bausano’s history, moving between the present and the company’s archive. Starting from the factory today, the camera gradually enters the past, bringing historical photographs, workplaces and people back to life.

Workers and recurring camera movements become the visual connection between different eras, leading the story back to the contemporary factory.

The storyboard was used to define this narrative flow in advance, establishing the key scenes, transitions and visual connections between past and present before moving into AI production.
